How the Integration Works

Step 1: Order Created in Shopify

When a customer places an order in Shopify, Shopify automatically sends a webhook notification.

Step 2: Order Processing Queue

The webhook data is validated and processed through a queue mechanism to ensure reliability and avoid duplicate transactions.

Step 3: Sales Order Created in NetSuite

The integration creates a native NetSuite Sales Order with:

  • Customer information
  • Item details
  • Quantities
  • Prices from Shopify
  • Shipping information

1. Multiple Line Items Supported

Orders containing multiple SKUs are automatically synchronized into a single NetSuite Sales Order while preserving quantities and totals. This functionality was validated in the testing scenarios.

2. Customer Auto-Creation

If the customer does not already exist in NetSuite, the integration automatically creates the customer record during synchronization.

Example:

Shopify Customer → Not Found in NetSuite → Customer Created Automatically → Sales Order Created

3. Existing Customer Matching

To avoid duplicates, the integration searches NetSuite by email address and links the order to the existing customer record.

4. Shopify Pricing Overrides NetSuite Base Price

The sales order uses the price paid by the customer in Shopify, regardless of the item’s base price in NetSuite. This guarantees accurate revenue and order totals.

5. Error Protection for Missing SKUs

If an item exists in Shopify but not in NetSuite, the integration prevents the order from being created, helping maintain data integrity. Testing confirmed this behavior.
